Assign each weight once. Make every scale agree.

Rules & strategy

Assign the whole-number weights 1 to 5, once each. Every copy of an object has the same weight. A scale compares the total on its left with the total on its right. It can be lighter, equal or heavier.

Use the equalities to connect groups, then use the inequalities to remove possibilities. A scale fitting your entries does not prove those entries are correct. All scales must work together. Notes are scratch work and do not affect the scales or the solution.

Click an object and a weight, or use arrow keys and numbers. Choosing a weight already assigned swaps the two objects. N toggles notes, Delete clears, U undoes. Every swap or note change is one Undo step. Hints identify a set of useful weighings; revealing a weight is optional. Asking for a hint counts as help even if it reports a contradiction.

48 original, unique-solution puzzles in three packs of 5, 6 and 7 objects. Upper packs retain alternatives after single-weighing domain filtering, so several readings must be considered together. Boards and completion marks stay during this page visit only; practice and Daily are separate. No account needed.

Rules & example: Balance Lab
  1. Assign the weights 1 to the number of objects, once each. All copies of a letter have the same weight.
  2. Each scale compares the total weight on its left with the total on its right. Make every lighter, equal or heavier reading true.
  3. Select an object and enter a weight. Arrow keys select; number keys assign; N toggles notes; U undoes. Assigning a used weight swaps two objects.

A quick example

A + B equals C. With weights 1, 2 and 3, C must weigh 3. If A is lighter than B, A is 1 and B is 2.
