Pick a tile, an operation, then another tile.

Keyboard shortcuts & calculation history

Click anywhere in this round, then use keys 1–5 for tile slots and + − * / for operations. U undoes; Esc clears a selection. Slots stay in place after a combination.

  1. 2 = 2
  2. 2 = 2
  3. 7 = 7
  4. 9 = 9
  5. 9 = 9

For subtraction and division, choose the left-hand number first. Parentheses are created automatically by each combination.

Rules & example: Number Forge
  1. Use every starting tile exactly once. Combine two tiles with addition, subtraction, multiplication or division; the result replaces them.
  2. Finish with one tile equal to the target. Fractions and negatives are allowed; division by zero is not.
  3. Click tiles and operations, or use keys 1–5 and + − * /. U undoes. Hints solve the current inventory.

A quick example

With 2, 3 and 4, combine 2 + 3 into 5, then 5 × 4 into 20. The order you group the tiles matters.

Where to start

In Split thinking, form two separate groups before combining them. Fraction frontier requires an intermediate fraction, even though the target is a whole number.
